DNP has built-in backup/restore functionality allowing you to backup hosting space items (web sites, FTP accounts, databases, etc.) and in case of disaster recover them.

DNP supports 3 backup types:

  • User Account and all its nested hosting spaces
  • Hosting Space and all nested hosting spaces
  • Server and all server services

Backup/Restore Temporary Folder

DNP Enterprise Server uses backup temporary folder during backup and restore for intermediate file operations.

To configure temporary backup folder perform the following steps:

1. Using Windows Explorer create a new folder somewhere on the hard disk, e.g. c:\DNPBackups.

2. Allow "write" NTFS permissions on that folder for ES application pool identity. The pool of DNP Enterprise Server that has been upgraded from 1.5.3 to 2.x works under "NETWORK SERVICE" account, pool of clean DNP Enterprise Server 2.x works under "DNPEnterpriseServer" account, so those accounts should have "write" NTFS access to backups temporary folder.

3. Specify this folder in "System Settings" like described here.

Can the whole backup and restore feature be better explained?
If I run a backup on a secondary server, why does it seem as though it is backing up the Enterprise server?
I am just a little hazy thru this whole thing
